Dr. Bared is a renowned facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Miami, specializing in rhinoplasty and hair restoration. He is dual board certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology.
Highly regarded for his natural looking results, he has been featured on NBC, Telemundo and Lifetime; is published in the Journal of the American Medical Association; is a frequent invited speaker at national and international plastic surgery conferences; and has contributed to several books on the outcomes and safety of facial rejuvenation.
Dr. Bared’s philosophy with hair transplantation is the creation of a natural appearance. The goal is not to be too aggressive but rather to reinforce the hairline and re-establish growth. Dr. Bared achieves natural results by staying within the range of what’s deemed appropriate for the patient’s age and also what compliments the other features.
As a member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, Dr. Bared specializes in:
For women, the traditional “strip” technique is a preferable choice. Dr. Bared performs both types of procedures, and will recommend the most appropriate option during the initial consultation.
Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE)
Follicular Unit Grafting (FUG)
As with any cosmetic procedure, proper expectations of what can realistically be achieved and the proper motivation will make for a great patient experience.
Dr. Bared meets with all patients before the procedure. He will first review your medical history, family history of hair loss, methods you are currently taking to help slow down the progression of hair loss, and review your goals for the procedure. Dr. Bared will then assess the quality of your donor hair and examine your scalp. Before proceeding he will then make recommendations of what you can be doing to help slow down the progression of hair loss. At that point, if he feels that you are a good candidate for hair transplantation, he will discuss your options for donor hair harvesting.
Once the area has been designed by Dr. Bared in front of a mirror, you will then be brought in to one of the procedure rooms. You will be given the option of an oral sedative to place you at ease during the entirety of your procedure. If you are having the FUE technique you will be lying face down during the first couple of hours of the procedure while the hair grafts are extracted.
The hair transplant procedure is a very meticulous process where each incision is made by Dr. Bared followed by the individual follicular unit, or graft, that is placed into that incision. This process happens back and forth, repeatedly, until the procedure is completed.
Dr. Bared works with fully-trained hair technicians at the Foundation which have been in practice with Dr. Epstein for many years and are all highly experienced in the field of hair restoration.
Dr. Bared does not hire any temporary help for these procedures – only fully-trained technicians that are dedicated to this procedure.
Dr. Bared believes in a conservative lowering of the hairline, particularly in young men. Where hairlines meet, he ensures that the corner is not rounded and takes other precautionary measures to create a natural-looking outcome.
The amount of grafts is determined by several factors including the availability of donor hair and the type of harvesting method used.
Each individual heals at a different rate but, on average, it takes around a year to see the full results of a procedure.
You can expect for the initial grafts to fall out around one to two weeks following the procedure. This is expected as the “old” hair and the surrounding skin fall out at this time. Outcomes vary with each person, the type of hair loss, the pattern of hair loss, the quality of the hair, and the coarseness of the hair.
Dr. Bared may recommend the use of medications such as finasteride (Propecia© ) or low level laser light therapy to help slow down the rate of hair loss. Given that hair loss is progressive while the grafts transplanted are not susceptible to hair loss, patients will continue to lose their native hairs while the transplanted hairs remain.
In order to help maximize the results, it is imperative that measures are taken to combat the hair loss.
All these factors and characteristics combine to give the various degrees of results after a transplant.
